Djombe Ojimbwa, M.D., Pathologist
The badly charred body of this male whose superficial age appears to be about thirty was examined via remote pathology medibots under direction and supervision of my office in Pueblo, Colorado. Initial examination was limited, due to the amount of damage sustained and the poor condition of the body.
The decedent was recovered from the ruins of his house in Durham, NC by arson investigators. Recovered digital and off-site security surveillance suggests there was a malfunction in the decedent's house AI system, which locked the decedent inside the trophy room. It appears the decedent sat in his individualized body-contouring chair and was unwillingly strapped into place.
It appears that over the course of several hours, security lasers designed for retinal scanning then malfunctioned. These malfunctions caused the lasers to change from pulse mode to focused beam, which produced two parallel tracts of carbonated tissue through the eyelids and eyes, orbits, and into the brain. Shortly after his expiration, authorities were notified by automatic systemic alarms. Response teams found the structure of the house badly burned, with the foundation sustaining minimal damage. Further investigation is underway.
EXTERNAL EVIDENCE OF INJURY: Third degree burns to 80% of body, peri-orbital erythemia, congealed vitreous, punctured sphenoid bone. Partial ligature marks along dorsum of the wrists and ankles were observed.
REMAINDER OF EXTERNAL EXAMINATION: The extensively burned well-developed male body could not be accurately measured or weighed due to thermal damage. The external auditory canals were burned beyond a point that allowed intense examination. Eye tissue is absent except where noted. The teeth are native and the incisors broken. The tongue has numerous punctures and lacerations. Examination of the extremities shows severe burns and missing digits due to fire.
INTERNAL EXAMINATION: Systems unremarkable unless noted.
LUNGS: No evidence of burn or smoke inhalation
BRAIN: Thermal puncture wounds through the orbits with parallel tracts of carbonized brain tissue traversing anterior to posterior, from the sphenoid portion of the orbits, to the occiput. The occipital skull showed thermal injury and osteomalacia.
CONCLUSIONS: The decedent expired before the generalized combustion of the house.
MANNER OF DEATH: Manslaughter by house AI system, (Possible Homicide).
RECOMMENDATION: Should investigation discover evidence of tampering with the house AI system, this case should be turned over to the Sentient Property Crime Bureau.
COMMENTS: Additional information will be sent to the Sentient Property Crime Bureau.
